Literary Musical Contest has been a most anticipated event of the Interfaces. It was added in the school calendar as part of their educational activities for them to practice what they have gained from their academic subjects and enhance further their hidden talents and potentials. Everyone enjoyed the festival of talents during the Literary Musical (LITMUS) Contest held at Doane Baptist School last February 5-7, 2020. It had 3 contests in the morning namely: Declamation, Poems and Vocal solo (for elementary) while the other 5 contests in the afternoon like Vocal Duet, Got talent, Spoken poetry, Interpretative dance (for elementary) and Extemporaneous speaking. Each teams also showcased their talents in dancing during their cheering competition. It was indeed a blast!

A literary musical is having the characteristics of humane learning in pleasing harmonious qualities of music. It has been suggested that music and language had a shared evolutionary precursor before becoming mainly responsible for the communication of emotive and referential meaning respectively. However, emphasis on potential differences between music and language may discourage a consideration of the commonalities that music and literature share. Its a great impact for every students to experience this kind of activity to let them show and improve their hidden skills in literary and musical. A lots of activities were prepared and played by students. This annual school activity tells us that its not only about how sporty you are in playing games, but how excellence you are in performing with your talents.

Through literary musical competition, it increases one’s self-confidence and enhances one’s capability. Engaging students in arts will help them have a positive outlook about themselves. When they explore themselves through music, they start to feel confident in who they truly are. Almost every kind of music class will involve some sort of public performance at the end. This experience might be scary at first, but once they are able to do it once, they will start to feel more confident to perform in front of others, whether at school or at home and competition is an example and will always be a good way for children to measure their capabilities and at the same time, learn to deal with both success and failure. Working hard to achieve a goal can truly build self-confidence and taking part in competitions allows them to assess their skills.
